Jacey & Heather
On the 30th October 2014 I had the pleasure of filming the marriage of Jacey and Heather at Stanbrook Abbey in Worcestershire.
It was my first time creating a Worcestershire Wedding Video at Stanbrook Abbey and I must say I was blown away from the moment I walked in. The autumn sun was streaming through all the large windows. Casting a beautifully atmospheric light everywhere.
The building is large and full of character. Once a place of contemplation and prayer it has now been lovely restored and
transformed into one of Worcestershire’s top wedding venues.

I arrived early to get plenty of footage of the venue itself and I just couldn’t stop! There was just so many lovely little areas and details that caught my eye. Coupled with all of Jacey & Heather’s personalised wedding favours and decorations needless to say I got rather carried away!
I met up with Heather whilst she was having her hair done. Her bridesmaids were with her and everyone was very relaxed. I worked around her and the hair stylist documenting the action and smiles as it was happening.
Jacey was upstairs and her bestlady was busy making sure the soon-to-be-newly-weds didn’t bump into each other in the midst of all the getting ready mayhem! Jacey was having a bit of make-up applied and was extremely calm and upbeat considering she had suffered a tummy bug the night before and didn’t get much sleep!
The ceremony itself was held in the Callow Great Hall and all I can say is WOW! Its an amazing room full of style. Wooden pews, stain glass windows and a stunning tiled floor. It really does create a powerful feeling for the couple having all their guests so close and facing inwards. As a guest you must feel so much more part of the ceremony. The ceremony itself was heartfelt and emotional. Afterwards Heather had arranged as a surprise to have a choir sing ‘All you need is love’ for Jacey. She was quite obviously touched and the tears started to flow.
After a champagne reception and some group photos in the lavender garden, myself and the photographers took Jacey and Heather off into the orchard and willow lake to capture some romantic footage and photographs of just the two of them together. Stanbrook Abbey in Worcestershire is a wedding videographers dream! It has tons of space and plenty of features to do lots of natural cinematic shots. The swing looking out onto the lake was practically great fun!
As a reportage wedding filmmaker I didn’t want to stage them in any way so we we just went for a little wonder around the gardens and I was able to get plenty of natural material without them barley noticing!
Then onto the meal and speeches, which was just as emotional as the ceremony. Particularly Heathers maid of Honours speech, which had the new bride reaching for the tissues!
The first dance was full of love. Anyone could see how happy the couple were and having the time of their lives.
During the evening reception Jacey arranged as a surprise for a live band, Natty Daps to play. As they were setting up I think all the guests got wind of the surprise with all the instrument testing and 1-2’ing on the mic! Nonetheless Heather loved the surprise especially as one of her good friends and guests was a lead singer!
I left the happy couple dancing the night away and I can honestly say I had a fantastic time on their wedding day. They made me feel so welcome and all their guests were lovely and relaxed which makes a wedding videographers job so much easier.
