What to say about this wedding day, where do I start… It was my first time filming at Lyde Court in Hereford and I just fell in love with the place almost as soon as I stepped into the grounds. The day then turned into a dream wedding the whole way through!
Naomi & Ashley were the perfect couple, so relaxed and natural in front of the camera and they were obviously very much in love, that was clear to see. So it was a real pleasure to capture their special day for them and all the wonderful moments that unfolded that day.
Take a look at this wedding video from their Lyde Court wedding in Hereford and see what you think. Its the perfect summers barn wedding venue.
The day started in the ‘white room’ which is the bridal prep area at Lyde court. And for a Herefordshire wedding videographer this room was perfect! Not too big, not too small, fantastic quirky pieces of art on the wall and best of all flooded with beautiful window light! As a natural wedding videographer I adore this kind of situation, so I was happy from the word go!
Naomi was very happy and relaxed, slowly getting ready with her sister and close friends. After a small hitch with one of the bridesmaids dresses – which Nan had to come to the rescue with her sewing kit, all when smoothly and they were ready in the nik of time. They all looked absolutely STUNNING! The make up was so amazingly good! It took a nervous Ashley’s breath away as he saw his beautiful bride walking down towards him in the gorgeous open barn setting at Lyde Court.
During the summer months at Lyde Court in Herefordshire you are able to get married in the open barn on the grounds there. It is a very rustic traditional barn building inclusive of all its original oak beams and features. I think its about 400 years old and has had minimal changes made to it. It is long and fairly narrow with quite a low ceiling but comfortably holds a large wedding party. I loved this ceremony room but then I am a sucker for barn wedding venues and rustic features! I particularly liked the depth to the room and the stone walls that surround the couple. The fact that the one side was fully open gives you the sense of having an outdoor wedding ceremony but being covered over head meant that if it did rain a bit during the special moments, it didn’t matter and the ceremony could still go ahead without a hitch. The perfect indoor/outdoor wedding venue! They decorate it with hay bales at the end, old wooden chairs and rugs on the floor. And being an open barn we could hear the sheep in the near by field ‘barrrrrrring’ away which only added to the atmosphere of a countryside rustic barn wedding! It was amazing!
I have filmed in quite a few barn weddings now, Curradine Barns and Redhouse Barn in Worcestershire, Shustoke Farm Barns, and also Mythe Barn both in Warwickshire and also soon to be on the blog page, Cripps Barn in the Cotswolds. So I am very familiar, as a Cotswolds wedding videographer with the lighting conditions and layouts of barn weddings in the UK and I have to say that they are probably one of my favourite type of venues. I love the darker, atmospheric light and rustic features that comes with these types of wedding venues.
I was also a pleasure to work along side Pixie Abbot from Pixie Abbot Photography. Her relaxed and friendly approach kept all the guests at ease during the day. We had a right good giggle with the wedding party during the photo shoot. She also brought with her some coloured smoke grenades which made for some amazing shots and I was able to film it and get some awesome video footage. More smoke grenades at weddings please! ha ha Anyway, i really enjoyed her laid back approach to wedding photography. This is something I try to adopt as much as possible. At times – usually during the preparations people can get a bit stressed so the last thing you need is a camera too close in your face or a wedding videographer hassling you to pose in this position or that position! he he I describe my style as a documentary wedding videographer and its also best to work with photographers of a similar mind set.
Following the ceremony, the drinks reception and speeches went well. The court yard at Lyde Court in Hereford is a lovely gathering place for all the family and friends to celebrate with the newly married couple. After the speeches Pixie and I took the couple off for half an hour to get some shots of them alone. The light we had in the field for their shoot was out of this world and out of all the shots I think my favourite ones are of them are the ones when they are walking in the field bathed in beautiful golden light! In July the sun is at its highest and strongest (we had some particularly hot days in July this year!) so its often better to delay the couple shoot until after the speeches when the sun is lower in the sky. The effects we can get a much better and also by that time the speeches are over and often the groom is far more relaxed! We got some amazing shots on this day and Naomi & Ashley were a dream to film!
So all in all my experience as a UK wedding videographer of Lyde Court in Hereforshire is nothing but a good one! Its the perfect indoor/outdoor wedding venue. I loved every minute of this day and I just hope that I am lucky enough to get another barn wedding booking at Hereford’s premier wedding venue!
