Meg & James said their vows at the beautiful St Giles Church in Bubbenhall, Warwickshire which is just down the road from Meg’s family home. Just at the time of the ceremony the heavens opened and it was umbrellas up and a mad dash to get everyone into the church before they all got soaking wet! But the rain soon passed and then the weather was just stunning for the rest of the day and we even had a rainbow!
Here is a short highlights film of their day. I think it showcases my passion to catch moments and emotions as they are happening naturally with minimal interference. I also love to include ambient audio in my films where ever possible. This is a good example of how in doing this it can draw the audience in further and stir deeper feelings, similar to those felt on a wedding day.
The preparations at Meg’s parents house were chilled and calm right until about half an hour before Meg had to leave for the church and then it was all hands on deck to do the finishing touches to her dress, veil & make-up. But to be honest a wedding wouldn’t be a wedding without the mad rush at the end of the bridal prep!
Everyone just about made it into the church before they got completely drenched and the ceremony got under way. After the happy couple had said their ‘I do’s’ we all gathered ourside the church for a few congratulation hugs and kisses and the family photos. By this time the sun was out in the gorgeous village in Warwickshire and everybody was happy & smiling – Just perfect for a natural relaxed wedding videographer like myself!
Myself and the photographer, Mr Duncan Cox my talented husband, had a few minutes with the couple by themselves at the church and the surrounding fields to get some very natural and informal shots of them together kissing and just generally enjoying each others company as newly weds. We don’t like to occupy the couples time too much on the day or to tell them how to pose but we will if we have the chance grab a few shots of them together and if we feel they need a slight bit of guidance then we are more than happy to help them feel relaxed and give a few pointers. Usually just a bit of walking hand in hand or chatting, giggling together and looking into each others eyes is enough for what we need to tell the story of your special day.
So after this it was onwards & upwards to Oldberrow house in Warkwickshire. It was my first time visiting this venue and I hope its not the last! Its a beautiful manor house and a real hidden gem in the English countryside. As a Midlands wedding videographer I get to travel to some lovely places and see some stunning buildings but this was a real treat as it was completely new to me and the place had so much potential.
Dan Greenaway was there already with his guitar cracking out some cool tunes. I have worked with Dan a few times now and it is always a pleasure. He plays a huge role in creating that perfect chilled out, festival wedding vibe and gets everybody relaxed and in the mood to have fun and enjoy the day. I would recommend him to anyone after an informal festival wedding theme. Here is another example of relaxed wedding videography.
The wedding breakfast and speeches were held in a marquee on the lawn. Meg & James had gone to so much trouble to decorate it just so. I always love wedding decorations that are hand made or slightly alternative. The bunting that Megan and her family had made was gorgeous! Yards & yards of pieces of different coloured cloth all knotted onto rope. It looked amazing and it must have taken months! Alternative weddings or DIY weddings are another passion of mine. There is so much character and fun to bring out in the films and I just love capturing all the little bits and details that make your day unique. Here is another example of an alternative wedding videographer at work.
So the evening came apon us and so did a rainbow! So we whisked the happy couple away after the speeches for a short photo/video shoot. We found a barn, hay bales, fields and old beautiful out-buildings to play with! We had some fun and then let Meg & James crack on with socialising and enjoying themselves.
The first dance was amazing! They had a big secret up their sleeves of a routine that they had spent months practising in the run up to the big day! The families were shocked and everyone enjoyed the show! They pulled it off like real professionals!
So after filming some of the party action and dancing we then took our leave, packed our gear up and left the group to enjoy themselves.
It was a pleasure to capture Megan & James’ special day and to create them some beautiful timeless wedding videos that they can now treasure for a lifetime. I wish them all the happiness in their new life together.
